Did You Forget About The Dark Complexions? :(

I am a new member of the Bare Minerals family. I have adult acne prone skin that I was able to get under control with the help of my fabulous dermatologist Dr. Dans in San Francisco! It was his suggestion that I use Bare Minerals products if I were going to use any make up at all.
On my second visit to the Bare Mineral Boutique, I racked up just about $300.00 worth of products! That should tell you how much I LOVE this stuff. I particularly have an obsession with the foundation and finishing products. As a black woman, I was so happy to see that there are options for women of color. Due to the wide range of ethnic backgrounds black people are made up of, we range in many colors all over the charts from almost white to ebony chocolate! I was happy to purchase my daughter light products for her fair skin, and tan products for my golden brown complexion.
I was REALLY excited to try out the Prime Time BB Primer, because I'm not really a foundation junky, unless I'm going out for the night. I was eager, to find a prodcut that moisturized without clogging pores, and provide minimal coverage for blemishes, with broad spectrum SPF protection. Although I'm a darker complexion, broad spectrum is important to me, to prevent hyper-pigmentation of my risidual acne blemishes. I just wanted something that I can slap on in the morning, and add a little lip gloss & go!
Well, I tried the Prime Time BB Primer on in medium, and it slightly matched my complexion, but was just a tad bit too light. It kind of made my skin look ashy. I was really dissapointed. Especially considering all of the wonderful colors the foundations come in, that range all over the board from very light to very dark. I thought, what happened here?
Many people say that the darker you are, the less sun protection is needed, due to the natural high production of melanin in people with darker complexions. This may be true, but I particularly need protection to keep my acne scars from gettin worse.
I can only imagine that it would'nt be cost effective to create a primer in every shade, but I think there should at least be a LIGHT, MEDIUM & DARK.
I'd love to give this five hearts, but I'm sad that I cant use the product, and my complexion has been left out of the equation. :(

Never leave home without it!

As an acne sufferer, I am so excited about all of the foundations and finishing powders by Bare Minerals.
I am especially in love with this product the most! It is extremely important for me to make sure I have broad spectrum coverage, to prevent hyper pigmentation due to the medications that I use on my face to lighten the scaring from residual adult acne. However, it's also hard to find a product that will not clog your pores. Well ladies, not only does this provide the broad spectrum to protect us from the sun and further darkening of acne blemishes, but it also provides you with a flawless finished looking complexion!
I literally never leave home without this product. I use it after moisterizing my face, if I just want to step out without any additional make up on, and it provides protection and a great looking complexion!
I also use this if I decide to wear make up as a finishing powder. A lot of people probably use on top of thier makeup, but I use directly after applying foundation, and then apply the rest of my make up, like eyeshadow, blush and the likes. It gives a very clean and finished look, while giving the appearance of minimizing pores.
Most importantly...NO BREAKOUTS!!!! :)
Like I said ladies...Never leave home without it.
My only disappointment, is that they do not carry the same shades in the loose Mineral Veil® Finishing Powder Broad Spectrum SPF 25. I really like the feel of the loose Mineral Veil, but it only comes in transluscent and tinted. I use this product in TAN, and it matches just perfectly with my complexion. I tried the loose Mineral Veil in TINTED, but I had to return it, as it gave my face a fake reddish tanned look. It's a shame that this only comes in 2 shades.
I really wish they'd create the loose Mineral Veil® Finishing Powder Broad Spectrum SPF 25 in the same shades as this Ready Touch Up Veil, because not only does it feel really nice, but it has a better Broad Spectrum SPF coverage of 25 vs. the 15 you get with this product.
However, I will continue to use this product, regardless, because it has been great to me, in more ways that one!
I give this four hearts, becuase I wish it came in the same shade, with a loose veil & SPF 25

I'm giving this darned product 5 hearts in a row!!! I don't have the shortest eyelashes, but they are far from long and luxurious. On special occassions I'd started wearing false eyelashes, to add a little bit mor drama to my look. I'd racked up on sevral packs of self adhesive lashes, just in case I needed them for an upcoming event. I can tell you that I now don't have any use for them, because this mascara has replaced the need!
Recently I made a trip into one of the Bare Escentauls boutiques, and a lovely young lady asked me if I'd like her to apply this product to my eyelashes. I was thinking, "sure go ahead, but it's probably going to be thick and clumpy and yucky"....NOT!!! :) I wasn't looking in the mirror while she applied, but when she was done I took one look & was stunned!!! My lashes looked Hollywood ready ladies! I was sold! It took my mediocre lashes to picture perfect and stunning. They looked thicker, longer and proportionately separated. No clumps at all!
This product is wonderful! After a full week of use, I've experienced not clumps, no hardening and falling out of lashes. The product is easy to remove, even with water alone. I hate mascara that gets hard and pulls out your lashes when you remove the product, this doesnt do that at all.
I love this stuff...It's so Hollywood ready!

I'm really excited about this new product. I was a bit intimidated, by the name "cleansing oil" due to my adult acne prone skin. However, I visited one of the boutiques today and the beauty advisor explained that oil against oil is actually not bad for my acne prone skin. She gave me a small sample to take home and try it out for myself. She was absolutely correct!
You pump a few drops into the palm of your hand and rub it together to warm it up, prior to application. With a face full of makeup I applied the product directly to my face without any water. I circled it around my face paying special attention to the eye make up I wanted to remove. You could literally see the makeup just melting off effortlessly! Thereafter I applied water, and this created a nice lather. Once I felt the majority of the makeup was melted away, I rinsed.
To my suprise this product cleaned everybit of makeup from my face, and left my skin feeling very smooth. It was an absolute effortless makeup removal and cleansing process. Once the product is rinsed from your face, there is nothing oily about it at all. It has a luxurious feeling to your skin at application. I'm sorry I didn't purchase the product while I was in the boutique, but I'll be placing my order here immediately!
An absolute thumbs up!! I give this four hearts & would give it five, but I haven't actually purchased the product and tried it long enough to give a complete five.

Is this product a substitute for regular loose mineral veil?
This would be easier to take in my travel bag than loose powder so I'm wondering if it is essentially the same product only in compact form.
I believe they created this for the convenience of carrying in your travel bag. It does serve the same purpose as the loose mineral veil, and offers a better variety of shades.

I personally like the fact that the original loose has an SPF of 25, but I don't like the fact that it only comes in two shades, Transluscent and Tinted. Neither of those really match my skin, so I was happy to purchase the compact Ready Touch Up Veil in TAN, because it matches my golden complexion just perfect.

Hope this was helpful!

about the ready touch up veil which one is dark cool tone I bought dark and it is too orange
I'm not sure of your skin tone, but if you are more golden like me, then I would suggest TAN, it really matches my golden skin perfect!

What skin type is this for?
Is this product for every skin type? I have sensitive skin with acne, and the less "scrubbing" I do, the less irritated my skin gets. It sounds like this doesn't need much to get the makeup and dirt off, and that would be perfect!
Alyssa,

I also have EXTREMELY sensitive & acne prone skin. I was skeptical at first, but the beauty advisor in the store assured me that it's perfect for all skin types. Beacuse my acne was very bad and devistating at one point, I'd done a lot of reading online regarding different products. A few of the blogs and forums that I'd visited had input from acne sufferers that also claimed that an oil make remover was NOT bad for your skin.

You dont need to scrubb with this product at all! You put a few pumps in your palm and apply directly to face without water, paying close attention to the areas of makeup you want to remove. And I tell you, you can see the makeup just melting off effortlessly. Then you add water, which gives a nice later, rinse and voila! Your face is really clean, without any makeup residue at all.

I personally used my regular cleanser after, only because I'm so afriad of leaving anything on my face that I think may clog my pores, but I'm sure this is not necessary...it's just my own obsesssion stemmed from eing truamatized by really bad acne at one point.

I honestly think you'll love this product! Hope this helps.
