Phrases Chosen: amazing, long-lasting, light weight
As soon as Bare Escentuals released Ready eyeshadows, I bought two 4.0 pallettes. For my first try at using Ready shadow, I used bareMinerals Prime Time eyelid primer and The Afterparty. I created a day look that lasted...wait for it...10 hours! From the time I applied it for the day to the time I arrived home to get ready to go out that night, my eyeshadow was flawless. No smudging, creasing or fading!
Not only is Ready eyeshadow long-lasting, the pallettes are very versatile. When I arrived home to get ready for my date, all I had to do was use the same pallette and layer additional colors over my day look for a super fast eye makeover! And finally, I just want to give you one more example of how light-weight and "bullet proof" this shadow is. I constantly forget I am wearing it, and if I accidenttally rub my eyes, nothing comes off!

Is Prime Time required?
I just bought a starter kit and it did not come with Prime Time but the directions said to use it.
You don't need to use it, just make sure your face is clean and moisturized.

I need to find the right eye color
I have older eyes and my eyelids sag a bit. I'm trying to find the right eye color that will enhance my eyes. I don't want to have to spend a lot of time applying it.
Hi MaryC!

I, too, have upper lids that sag a bit. After much trial and error, I have discovered that warm, golden colors or soft, matte colors work best for me. My go-to shadows are BareMinerals Ready eyeshadow pallettes The Cocktail Hour and The Afterparty. Once I got the hang of it, my day and night looks only take me about 10 minutes.

For a day look, I use Prime Time eyelid primer, and then buff a soft, shimmery golden color like Libation over my entire lid. Then, I apply a darker color like Rowdy just to the outer 3rd of my crease and lashline.

For an evening look, first I do the above steps. Then, I apply a darker shadow like Lights Down to my upper lash line, going only about half way across my lid. I use Rowdy, or a similar shade of a different color, to make a V shape at the outer corner of my upper lid and crease. For our type of lids, it's best if you don't take the darker shadow any further than about a third of the way into your crease.

No matter what look you want to create, you'll want to make sure you have a bright color like Cheers or Icebreaker on the center of your lid. This helps counteract the heavy look of our upper lids. The double-ended line and buff brush works best for me when I create these looks. After you get all these colors on, remember, blend, blend, blend!

Why should we use primer with the new eye shadows?
This look says to use eyelid primer, but wouldn't it be more beneficial to apply the shadow directly to the lid to maximize all the benefits? In the clinical studies, was primer used first?
Hi Jo-L!

I have used nothing but Ready shadow since it came out, so I thought I might be able to help you out. I have tried Ready shadows with and without primer. Although the shadow is such high quality that you can wear it without primer, primer does make a huge difference. With primer, the color saturation you get is much more intense, but you can layer it, so you have complete control over how intense the color turns out.

My favorite reason to use primer, however, is that it makes the shadow virtually "bullet proof." I constantly rub my eyes, whether I am wearing shadow or not. When I use the Ready eye shadow with primer, it dosen't rub off!
