Disappointed in this liner

Pros: hard to put on a thin line / application too thick, too soft, don't like having to sharpen it
I prefer the twist eyeliner. The line was thinner, and the pencil didn't need sharpening. This newer liner goes on thick enough for going out to a club at night, but goes on too thickly for the office.

Is there a way to sharpen?
I purchased this eyeliner and I LOVE it!! However, from what I can tell there is no way to sharpen or "push up" the product.... So is that correct? The only product you get is the tip that is showing?
You must buy a separate sharpener, and bareEscentuals doesn't make one for its liners.
