My Favorite New Lip Product

One of my two favorite new products from BE in the last few years (along w/Primer Shadows)! And my favorite lip product of all. (Followed closely by the still-rare Hydrating Lip Tint -- c'mon, bring those out of hiding, BE!)
Some fab colors -- especially in the 2 new collections -- and SUCH a NUMMY scent. I AM a cinnamon girl! But if you're not, don't worry, it's just a hint. The notes in the scent are elusive -- try figuring them out if you haven't already heard what they are. Definitely not the same old uninspired vanilla or mint that everyone else is doing
I like that the formula isn't so sheer even in the palest colors that it disappears on your lips as if you just had clear gloss on. (I HATE that -- a color that looks so nice in the tube that turns out basically colorless on the lips. What's the point? -- Just get a clear or clear-shimmer gloss and you're there anyway!)
So many colors, especially with the ones in collections and the two new sets coming out, so I won't yammer on about all of them. A couple tho! ; )
First, the not-so-thrilling: Haven't tried Rebel or Show Off (both have no shimmer, FYI, like Hot Shot and Party Starter) so I can't speak to those. But, the only "meh" in the bunch for me so far is Sparkplug. It's not ugh, but it's not the cool color I was thinking when I read "dusty pink" -- I was thinking a silvery medium-rich pink. But, it's definitely a brown pink; kind of a lighter shade of the Maverick or the new Free Spirit -- both of which are much better.
Now onto some of the good stuff! Love Dare Devil -- such a pretty sparkling berry. Party Starter has a great saturation of coral. And, surprise, surprise for my blond, light-skin, grey-eyed self: Risk Taker! Described as a shimmering chocolate I think, but it is a great, not-too-orange medium coppery shimmer. Dare I say -- a cinnamon shimmer! Love! <3 The new Dreamer is a beautiful more-saturated-than-usual golden. One of the few if any of that color and depth available anywhere, from anyone.
Can't wait to try out the two new collections -- just arrived today from the "preview" event! More Moxie love!
IMHO -- Marvelous Moxie's are better than the Buxom glosses they replace! :D Better scent, not practically-colorless sheer like Buxom colors often are, and not sticky!

These are by far one of my two favorite new products/formulas BE has come out with in the last few years!!
Absolutely love these! The combined color & primer is a great idea, cuts out a step, and is super-easy to use. It can be very sheer to very saturated, depending on how much you put on -- just a pin-head size can do a whole eyelid!
And then layering a regular, "dry" shadow over these adds the cherry on top. From coordinating colors to unusual, cool combinations.
Sundance is a gorgeois peach. (Stealing words from Mia Michaels, dance & choreography goddess!) Bronzed Twig is a deep-bronze brown. Gunmetal is a dark silver or platinum, just like you would think from the name of the color. Might not be for everyone, but my fave is the Racing Green. If you apply very sheerly, it gives just a hint of that beautiful emerald. And you can get a richer version of the color by putting more on. It also makes a great start for layering shadows over -- whether coordinating or a unique complementary shade not in the green or gold family -- try Seashell if you can find it, or a medium sandy brown for a shimmery khaki that's a-may-zing. Same w/Chroma Violet -- a true amethyst, not too blackened and not pale. It also does some amazing things w/other eye shadows buffed onto part or all over it. Think of one of the duochrome shades that has a lavender sheen (Au Naturel anyone?), or any one of the range of silver tones, but pinks and browns work well also. Mocha Supreme was an inspired combination; I'm thinking a taupe like Justice would be fab, too. And, lastly: Urban Nature -- a surprise! Mossy, sage-y green -- with pink sheen!! So cool -- really shown best when applied relatively sheerly. And try adding a pink shadow with it -- Strawerry Daiquiri is the one BE used, but there are several other options (esp. the pinks w/a hint of peach or coral, like Pink Posy or Day Dream -- or try something like Bahamas or even Champagne) -- plays w/the pink sheen.
The "extreme glimmers" collection w/the regular primer was a DIY version. And you can still DIY with any of the loose shadows (or liner shadows) and the regular eyelid primer. Go hog wild! Come up w/something awesome & tell BE about it -- maybe they'll even add the color.
Would include in this primer "shadow" category the colored primers listed only as primers -- "Brightening," "Brightening Pearl" and "Sunlight."
I hope BE makes many more of these, along with making the ones that have been parts of collections available as part of the regular, open stock line of primer shadows. Opal and Coral Reef are my two faves from the kits, maybe my two favorites of all!!
(BTW -- my other fave new product: Marvelous Moxie! Some fab colors -- especially in the 2 new collections -- and SUCH a FAB scent. Can't believe BE is discontinuing any of the 4 from this Customer Blends collection; all of them are REALLY pretty. They should all have gone into open stock, instead of disappearing after 1st being offered as a very limited-time collection.
I think this one is my fave of the 4. It's a beauty!
Don't totally agree with the color description.
I'd describe it as a shimmering light plum-taupe.
Think of it as Grace & Heart combined, but less sheer; or a paler version of Lucky.
Get while the getting's good -- before it's gone!

Great Colors, but the liner dries out & hardens

I love almost all of the colors I've gotten -- 11 a.m., noon, 5 p.m., 9 p.m., and others not available here. Some fabulous plums, especially, and was super-happy with the shimmering brown.
But.
What starts out as a creamy liner quickly dries out and turns hard. Very disappointed. Was looking forward to enjoying these for a good long time, but they become unuseable. I even sharpened away the exposed part of the liner, but can't sharpen past the hardened part.
(Yes, I have been making sure to keep the caps on good & tight from the beginning. This isn't my first time around the block w/creamy products.)
I don't know if it's the long-wear formula that is just over the edge into too easily dried out because of the staying power, or what. But, not ordering any more of these until the formula is fixed.
I'll stick with the original "Big & Bright" eyeliners while I can get them and haven't used up my supply. Over eyelid primer and w/some make-up setting spray, that will have to do for my BE liners.

I only ever saw these in the "Last Chance" items -- don't know when they actually came out. But, I love, love, love them!
The color sticks are a great, satiny texture -- reminds me of the tingle we used to get from the Buxoms. Two have a satin-matte finish and one a subtle shimmer.
And the glosses really "pop" the colors in combination with the sticks, but also work well alone for a hint of color.
The size is perfect to put in your purse -- I slip mine into the cell phone pocket on the inside of my purse (since I have a little cell-phone carrier that my phone actually goes in, the pocket is available for other things -- like this and the Bisque/Blemish duo in the white case).
The light pink makes a really nice pale lip -- not invisible-nude (or worse, grey-death-nude) -- with a good pink tone. Looks very chic Malibu Summer w/some color in one's skin. The darker pink is a fairly saturated light berry/deep rose color. Nice for a stronger lip without having to go fuschia, red or "tangerine tango" (i.e., deep reddish orange) edgy.
With both of these, the glosses are very similar to the stick color, and amp it up.
The "neutral" one is easily as amazing as the light pink. The lip stick is a bronzy color, but not "just" a bronze -- warmer than the golden amber kind of bronze. I can't quite put my finger on the other neutral color it is actually a combination of -- not as pale or yellow as caramel -- maybe maple syrup or cooked brown sugar color?
Seriously love this one on its own.
And then the gloss is a tangerine shimmer! An unexpected difference, given the similarity of the colors in the other pairings. And it really gives the bronze stick a whole different character when dabbed on top of it.
This is a great collection of semi-mini's. At a nice price, a really good all-around product BE has offered here.
Don't know why it never showed up new -- unless it was several years ago -- and don't think it should be discontinued. (But I ordered an extra, just in case!)
More kits of this nature, please, Leslie & BE!
Can do variations on the theme, too, in blush (or blush-like eye color) & gloss combinations -- dip the gloss in the blush or shadow, but have it come w/a colored gloss for an even funner use w/the blush than using a clear or clear-crystal gloss),
And, in eye shadows w/ either eye liner and, my personal special fave: a primer shadow w/ coordinating, but not matchy-matchy minerals shadow (another combo I LURV!).

This is a fab overall face color collection. I'm going to start w/my personal favorite thing: Oz! In a liner! OMG! I've been WAITING for a shimmery deep green eye liner, and one that isn't on the yellow/gold side and not on the too-blue side either. Oz is one of my favorite eye shadow colors, and the liner is my new favorite liner. I love that it makes my boring grey-blue eyes look green! (Just like I had put on a deep green shirt.)
Really like the new lip formula -- colored balm. Hope there are more colors of these coming out!! I like that it's a nice, smooth formula -- not hard & waxy like a lot of other balms can be (not BE's of course -- although this one is even a little smoother and creamier than the coffee-scented balm that comes w/the Lip Buzz collection). Very nice sheer berry color, too -- not practically colorless like a lot of tinted balms also are.
Love Radiance is my favorite Radiance so far. I went and found it on a certain re-sale site, gosh, probably over a year ago, because it wasn't available from BE -- and then, poof, here it is! I'm so happy to have another one of it. I hope this gets added to the permanent collection of Radiances. It is such a nice coral-tinged pink.
The new "Sunlight" brightening eye primer could be part of the new Primer-Shadow collection practially. It is a flattering light coppery color. (Deeper than the "Sundance" peach one in the Primer-Shadows, but a little sheer-er.)
I'm not a major user of matte shadows, and I was hoping the matte Queen Phyllis was going to have a sheen to it, like the matte versions of Celestine, Bare Skin and True Gold did when they came out. But, sadly, no. However, it is a nice, light slightly buttery-nude color on my eyes. Good for brightening them up as a stand-alone color.
I even am going to put my XOX charm to use -- once I find my pair of needle-nose pliers to close the loop spiral, it will hang nicely on a cord or chain as a necklace pendant. And I like the XOX sentiment -- I usually sign off personal notes w/something similar (XOXO or XXOO). It will be a fun, casual necklace.

When BE offered a few high-shine powder eye shadows packaged with the eyelid primer, I found that method of application just fab. This new product is a natural progression from that, and I just looooooove it!
This green is just beautiful -- a true green, not too yellow, not too blue. And you can get either a dramatic application by placing it on without much blending or by laying it on thicker, or a nice wash of color that's much more sheer by using a little dot and blending it out. A little goes a very long way for that -- I put a pin-head size dot on the back of my hand when I first got this to test it, and when I spread it out, it covered half my hand!

"Ice" is a good name for it, because this is basically a white frost. Only the barest hint of pink is noticeable, IMO.
From the description and the picture, I thought it would be a nice light pink frost, but no. If that's what you're looking for, I don't recommend this.

Nice color, but not as described.

I ended up liking this color, but it is definitely NOT a raspberry pink -- that is, if you think of "raspberry" like I do -- as kind of a cool/bluish deep pink. It is definitely a copper tone. For anybody who coppers/oranges/browns don't work for, I would recommend not ordering this color.
(Unfortunately, I have found that BE's color descriptions and, especially, pictures, don't seem to match up, relatively often. The color descriptions are usually closer to the actual color when I get it based on what I would picture the color to be from the description, but not in this case. Take the "Moonshine" HIgh-Shine Eyecolor, for example -- the picture of it looks very pink to me, but the description says deep plum; the actual color is more like the bullet in the color swatches -- and the color swatches are usually the most "off". But in that case, the color is a not-deep dusty purple.)
If you zoom in all the way on the pictures for Chloe and for Stella, the Roxanne color is in between those, and closer to Chloe.

This is a really pretty shade. I love it.
But, it DOES have a definite coppery hue to it. (If you zoom in on the picture as far as it goes, you can just see the hint of copper/tawny-ness in it. If you're unsure, try to find it in a store "live" so you can get a good look at it.)
If you are looking more for a true burgundy, try the Vanessa full-color Buxom.
The 4-star rating is mostly because of the difference in the description and picture online and the product in reality.

Faux Tan Shimmering Body Moisturizer
Shimmer version of regular Faux Tan Body Moisturizer?
Is this the same product as the "Faux Tan Body Moisturizer", but just with shimmer added? Descriptions are different enough that I cannot tell for sure if this product also has a slight self-tanning effect (like the regular Faux Tan Body Moisturizer does).
If so, this is my kinda thing! I'm a shimmer girl! And I like a lower-effort self-tanner.

How to Keep This from Going On Too Dark
Help! I'd love to add just a little warmth to my face, as this product is designed to do. But it goes on too dark, so I look oddly dark on my face. I've tried putting it on with the fan brush, but then I don't see any additional color in my face at all.
Any tips and tricks in terms of applicator brush to apply it with and how to get the color just right?
(FYI -- I'm a warm "light" -- I use Fairly Light if I'm really pale, but usually I'm Golden Fair, or Light.)

I bought a blush in a package deal from QVC called Hot Shot what whould be the closest to that one.
The blush was from a set of three

I love the color sugar plum in the 100% natural lip gloss but Moxie is my favorite type of gloss.
The closest is probably going to be Dare Devil. (Although the new Gutsy combined w/ Dare Devil might get a little closer.)

Where to find Exotic Pearl eyeshadow?
I've been using Exotic Pearl from lash line to brow bone and love it w/ purple shadows. I can't find it. How does Platinum compare to Exotic Pearl in color? Is it appropriate for last line to brow bone color?
There really isn't one like it. That's was a special in a collection.
You might be able to get close by mixing one of the light ivories (like Soul or Chenille, or even Ecstasy or Opal because that have that sparkle to them that Exotic Pearl did) with a SMALL amount of one of the pale greens that have a yellow tone (Invitation or maybe Celery) or one of the yellows that has a green tone (Queen Linda).
That's as close as you're going to get here on the BE site.
For an alternative that might work w/purples, depending on the shade of purple, you might check out Jasmine Tea. It is a mint color, but has a slight pinkish sheen added -- makes it a really unique color.

It's the only one that has the brightness and the hint of blue-pink.
In the "Last Chance" area, there is one called Pink Petal. It is a stronger pink like Hot Shot, but I personally think it's a little paler and warmer-toned.
They don't really have one that's close in the Ready blushes -- the French Kiss has a warm tone to it, which lessens the brightness compared to Hot Shot. And the Faux Pas isn't as bright a pink as the picture looks here on BE....
It's the only one that has the brightness and the hint of blue-pink.

Naturally good-for-you cheek color.
Is there a blush that is close to the old "Dusk" color?
I have used the loose powder blush Dusk for years, but it is no longer available. Is there a shade that is close to this one?
You might try the True AOFC. Or the Blush Pearl ($9.50 in the "Last Chance" section), Joyous Jennifer or Thistle minerals blush.
Or even Tranquil, although it has a bit more plum-rose in it.
Not familiar enough with the Ready blushes whole color range "in person" to make a comparison there. Maybe "the Confession"?

What color blush goes well with the golden dark foundation?
I use the golden dark color foundation
Depends on what you want to do with your blush, of course. If you want to highlight your cheeks a little bit, but keep it in the nude family for your shade of skin, you would want to look at some colors that are more of a brownish or bronze-y blush.
Or, you could go with an orange-y, coppery deep coral, like Frisky, or Sedona, or maybe Poppy.
Then, if you want to add a pop of color, instead, look for a bright pink. Flowers or Beauty or Fruit Cocktail might be options.
A last choice, if your skin isn't dark enough that these would blend in, are the more burgundy/wine/maroon colors. Compassion or Velvet or Amused maybe. I suspect this might not work very well, but it's hard to tell in words.
Other options are available in the EYE colors. Just browse around the browns, peaches & pinks. There are lots of options ranging from bronzes, to bright orange-tangerine-peaches, to corals, to bright pinks.
Obviously, the best option is get to a boutique (better than going to a BE counter in a department store, because those have fewer choices), and try some on and take a look in a good, strong light -- or even bring a large enough hand-held mirror and go outside to see each color in natural light.

A blush that would make a good bronzer?
I'm looking for a blush that would make a good bronzer. I currently use warm radiance and fair foundation.
A good bronzer for a Fair girl might be RSVP -- it's available in the Last Chance section still. It would work if you want a true bronze and not a pinky-bronze.
If you're looking more for a rosy-pinky bronze to highlight the pink undertones in your complexion, Love Radiance is an option, but you can't buy it separately right now. (It IS available in the Love & Happiness collection, tho.)
True AOFC/Radiance or Soft Focus True AOFC (Last Chance) are options that would give a more deep rose tint to the bronze; on me it is a rosy-copper (sheer -- remember, this is a Radiance). Blush Pearl blush is another possibility, as is Joyous Jennifer.
Paler options might be Dusk, Thistle or Laughter.
If you want to broaden your search, you might consider looking at some of the EYE colors that are a medium level of color and in the pink-rose-peach-coral-copper families. (This would mean looking at the eye colors in the Pink group, the Peach group and the Brown group.) Don't apply with a concentrated eye color brush, or even a normal blush brush probably -- because the eye colors tend to be more saturated (not always, tho), you might want to use the Soft Focus face brush or the Fan brush (also going bye-bye in the Last Chance section). One choice that comes to mind is Silk Rose (in Last Chance, again). Amazing Amanda, Radiant Rebecca, Beautiful Melodie and Beautiful Autumn are all various levels of coppery-pumpkiny-rusty bronze -- each has shimmer, so be light-handed. Faux Fox is a more matte version of this shade range. Romance is slightly less deep, and Bliss is slightly paler than that. Savvy is a bit redder of a cinnamon. Tan Lines might be an obvious choice. Lastly, Wearable Brown Dark or Medium and Wearable Pecan Medium and Wearable Chestnut are all matte options in various shades of brown with various levels of red or cinnamon.

Any current shade similar to Decadent Diamond?
I love Decadent Diamond blush from a QVC kit. Is there a current product that is close in color?
Unfortunately, there isn't anything really similar available right now. Of the colors that are on the BE site, I'd say Golden Gate is probably the closest, but it is a lighter coral. In the Last Chance blushes, there is Papaya -- it is a nice coral, but a little brighter and less pink/rose-toned than Decadent Diamond. Dawn is another option that might just do, although it doesn't seem to have the slight shimmer.
Then, some other alternatives, depending on what you might be willing to settle for -- or, how you might combine a couple to get where you want to be: First Class is also an option, but it is paler. Flowers is a pinky deep coral, although this one is a stronger color than Decadent Diamond. Laughter is described as a coral rose, but it's more of a coral color without as much of the deep rose as Decadent Diamond, and without the hint of shimmer, but it might work. Lastly, Thistle is a pinky-coral.
One combination that might work is Flowers + Golden Gate, or Dawn + Golden Gate.
Despite the fact Decadent Diamond is described as a poppy pink color, don't think that "Poppy" is a close option -- it isn't the close to the rose-poppy that is in Decadent Diamond, it is more of a coppery-coral.
